Auli is a popular hill station in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand in North India which is surrounded by coniferous and oak forest. The name Auli is known as Auli Bugyal in Garhwali. Auli Bugyal means Field of Grass (Ghas Ka Meadan). It is at the highest of 8200 feet above sea level. You can see the Nanda Devi, Comet, and Dunagiri hills which look very beautiful and attractive. From January to March, the snow cover gets jammed up to three feet, due to which the peaks of the mountains are seen covered with white sheets. You can reach Auli by ropeway or trek from Joshimath. Joshimath to Auli is just an 11 - 12 km distance. This is the best place from the point of view of skiing.

Auli is a gateway of Shri Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham. These temples are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Shiva respectively. This beautiful tourist place is located confluence of the Nandprayag, Alaknanda, and Mandakini rivers. According to the Hindu religion, it is considered sacred to take a dip in the Sangam, many Hindu pilgrims also take a bath at this Sangam. Many families enjoy holidays in Auli and nearby sightseeing and the Young do trek, skiing, snow play games.

About Chopta: Chopta is a small village/town in Uttarakhand's Gharwal region in Rudraprayag district. It is also known as Mini Switzer Land of India and is located at the height of 8556 feet from sea level. You can see the world's highest Shiva temple from Chopta i.e Tungnath is the third Kedar temple in Panch Kedar (Five temples of Lord Shiva). Chopta to Tungnath can be reached by a trek of 3.5 km distance and a further 1.5 km steep trek to reach the summit of Chandrashila.
